A multifunctional project contributing to the reconversion of the railway station area in Mechelen

This project will combine 17,800 m² of office space and 3,565 m² of housing space at the heart of the city of Mechelen, on a former disused industrial site. The heritage building ‘Socaré’ will be renovated. The industrial look and feel of this building will be preserved as a reference to the site’s history.

This 11,000 m² site, located along the canal, housed a malt-house and a rubber factory, then a pressing plant for non-ferrous metals. The site was abandoned in 2013 when the last company using it, Inofer, went bankrupt.

The project will offer housing and office spaces in a low-traffic and green environment. The site will also be accessible from the surrounding neighborhood and it will include integrated facilities such as a pub, a restaurant and a co-working area, as well as an underground car park with 308 parking spaces.

PSR (division of the Jan De Nul Group) is a major Belgian developer, specialized in the redevelopment of brownfield sites.
