CHANCELIER
Codic Belgique/Belgium has signed a long-term lease contract of 99 years to develop a new office building project in the heart of Brussels, at the corner of 40 rue des Colonies and rue de la Chancellerie.
Following a tender organized by Cushman & Wakefield, Codic was selected by Flanders Investment Company (FICO), as presenting the best offer to develop a new flagship/emblematic/iconic project.
The required permits are provided to build a project covering +/- 12,500 sq.m of office spaces, +/- 657 sq.m of terraces and 741 sq.m of retail spaces.
The works will start in the summer. The building is expected to be delivered in the second half of 2023.
Christophe Jacobs, General Manager of Codic Belgique/Belgium: “We were won over by the strategic location at the very heart of Brussels and in a reviving district. The project is situated near the Central Station (‘Gare Centrale’) and near the new headquarters of BNP Paribas Fortis designed by SM be baumschlagereberle Styfhals & Partners Jaspers-Eyers Architects, not far from the ‘Palais des Congrès’ with a view on the Cathedral ‘Saints Michel & Gudule’. The building’s architecture was entrusted to Archi 2000 and an enforceable permit allows us to start the works without any delay.
It was already thought to answer the new expectations and users post-Covid requirements. We will aim at obtaining a BREEAM Excellent, a WELL and a Wiredscore certificate.”
